Olympic medalist Nathan Baggaley has been arrested on drug charges. Police found 762 ecstasy tablets, a quantity of unknown white powder, cannabis and more than $1000 in cash in a car occupied by Baggaley, 31, and NSW surf-ski representative Kane Thomas Battese. He’s already serving a two-year sports sanction imposed by the ICF for taking banned steroids. Now he’s charged with five drug offences, all of which carry maximum 25-year jail terms.
The really shitty thing is, he shares a house with a number of other athletes all of whom are now suspect and being questioned by police. And I’m sure his former girlfriend, world record-breaking swimmer Sophie Edington, will also suffer from the fallout. She ended their two year relationship a week ago but that’s not very long. There'll be lots of questions about her integrity as well.
