This morning in Beijing, just as Canada garnered not one but three Olympic medals, the press asked Adam Van Koeverden for his opinion on Canadians griping about our athletes performance to this point in the games. As usual he cuts through the b.s. and addresses the real issue;

“I’d like to ask the people who are complaining about our results are
they playing Xbox or are they playing sports? Are they going to (amusement parks) on the weekend or are they swimming? Do they do swimming lessons? Are they encouraged to play sports at school? Do they have phys ed at school? Most kids don’t and that’s a real cultural issue in Canada.

I encourage Canadians to look a little deeper. These athletes have earned your gratitude. They are the best Canada has to offer. To complain and be ungracious about them when they are doing their absolute best, it’s not part of the solution but it is part of the problem.”

Speaking of kayakers... Larry’s latest blog entry is up.
